Clark June 2002 Old Mount Hickory Primitive Baptist Church Cemetery Chambers County, Alabama Notes in () were added by contributor. This cemetery is located in the SE corner of Section 28, Township 24, Range 26, near the crossing of Chambers County Roads 158 and 160, known as Rock Fence. This location is the original site of Mount Hickory Primitive Baptist Church, which was constituted in 1834. In 1847 the location of the church was moved 1.5 miles west and has remained there since. Another cemetery near this site began in 1855 with the grave of Elizabeth Whatley Carlisle being the first. Old Mount Hickory Cemetery has almost vanished due to vandals and being reclaimed by nature. This survey was completed by me in 1977. Graves found at that time were: In Memory of Lazarus Atkinson. (No dates, slab over grave. The Estate File of Lazarus Atkinson, Chambers County, Alabama, shows a death date of November 6, 1839). Another source gives a birth date of February 28, 1791). Sacred To The Memory of Sophia Ann Wright, wife of Moses T. Wright, who was born March 18th, 1819 and departed this life September 27th, 1839. In Memory of James Henry Wright, son of M. T. & Sophia Ann Wright, who was born August 27th and died September 21st, 1839. In Memory of B. & L.(?)L. Lawson's infant son. (No dates). In Memory of B. & L.(?)L. Lawson's infant daughter. (No dates). In Memory of Rebecker, wife of Booker Lawson, born July the 30th, 1788, Died March the 1st, 1860. A row of nine graves, each with large flat rocks stacked neatly. (These graves mark the final resting place of the Elijah Phillips family. Elijah Phillips born July 7, 1805, died January 29, 1860.
