Talbot, born May 8th, 1816 Died June 25th, 1878 "Precious in the sight of the Lord, is the death of His saints." Psalm CXVI. 15th v. (James A. Talbot was granted license to establish a ferry "where the center line of Section 29, Township 24, Range 25, crosses the Talapoosa River", on December 20, 1852. This ferry was later owned and operated by members of the Fant family and was known as Fant's Ferry until it ceased to operate in 1922. James A. Talbot, Captain, 37th AL Inf. Reg.
