J. Robinson, Judge of Probate in and for said County, Mrs. F. L. Barnes, who being duly sworn upon oath, says that her husband Nathaniel T. Barnes, was a Captain in Company E of 10th Regiment of Confederate Cavalry; that he came to his death from wounds received or disease contracted in the service of the Confederate States, and that his death occurred during the late war or within one year thereafter; that she has not since remarried; that she was a resident of Alabama on the 25th day of February, 1887, and is a resident at the date of this application; and that her taxable property does not exceed one thousand dollars in value. End Note: Nathaniel Tucker Barnes, b. 28 February 1826, d. 9 January 1864 at Johnson’s Island POW Camp, Ohio. He was buried in the POW grave yard in Ohio. They married 24 January 1856, in Chambers County, Alabama. Frances Lee Dent, daughter of John T. and Margaret A. (nee Chunn) Dent, was born 16 January 1833 and died 15 December 1895. She is buried at Antioch Baptist Church Cemetery, outside of LaFayette, Chambers County, Alabama. She lies next to her sister, Sarah and her mother, Margaret Dent.
