William W.  Scales, River View, Dies At Age of 85

  William W.  Scales, 85 prominent resident of River View for the past 40 
years, died Tuesday at the home of his daughter in West Point, Mrs.  John 
Rutland.

  Born in Jonesboro, Ga., in 1862, Mr. Scales had been a deacon in the Baptist 
Church for 45 years and a member for the past 70 years.

  Surviving besides his daughter, Mrs. Rutland, are one son, Luther Scales, of 
Shawmut, and three grandchildren.

  Funeral services were held Wednesday afternoon at the River View Baptist 
Churdh with the Rev. Jennings Baggett officiating.  Interment was in Bethlehem 
Cemetery at Glass under direction of Johnson and Blakely.
