Roanoke Leader
Thaddeus S. Key, age 79, died at 3:30 p. m. Wednesday, Dec. 22, after a brief 
stay in Lanier Memorial Hospital, Langdale. A native of Randolph County, he had 
made his home in Fairfax the past 12 years. He had been in failing health for 
some time. Mr. Key is survived by two sons, Carl Key of Montgomery and John Key 
of Roanoke; two daughters, Misses Mattie Grace and Annie Mae Key of Fairfax; and 
three granddaughters, Marjorie, Karlene, and Candy Key. Funeral services for Mr. 
Key were conducted at 2:00 o'clock Friday afternoon from the Fairfax Methodist 
Church. The pastor, Rev. Hewlett Aldredge, was assisted by Rev. E. L. McFee of 
Roanoke and Bev. B. F. Miller. Interment was in Bethel cemetery at Welch, Johnson 
Funeral Home directing.
