C. (Tad) Newman Dies at Five Points, 6th W. C. (Tad) Newman, age 48, died at his home at Five Points. He had been sick for four or five months, but had not been confined to his bed until a few days ago. The deceased was a former resident of LaFayette, but for a long number of years had resided at Five Points, where he took and active interest in the affairs of tht community. He had been employed by the Harrell Huguley Motor Company, as a mechanic until he became ill several months ago. Funeral services were held at the Methodist Church of Five Points, of which he was a member, at 2:30 o'clock Tuesday afternoon, with the Revs. Spradley and Stallings officiating, with interment in the Five Points Cemetery. J. E. Cutler was in charge of the funeral arrangements. Surviving are his wife, Mrs. Lola Higgins Newman; daughter Mrs. Olin Day, Jr.; brothers and sisters, Mrs. Izora Newman Higgins, Plant City, FLa.; Mrs. Roberta N. Moseley, New Orleans, F. D. Newman, Birmingham, Ocie Newman, Waverly, and Ernest Newman, LaFayette; mother, Mrs. Eula Redmond Newman, LaFayette. Active pallbearers were F. D. Newman, Ocie Newman, Ernest Newman, Ed Higgins, Brooks Higgins and Cecil Higgins. Honorary pallbearers included employees of the Harrell Huguley Motor Company.
