Allie Abernathy's Scrapbook, 1893-1923

Mrs. Martha Sherard.

Mrs, Martha Sherard died last Saturday afternoon, Oct. 14th, at 3:00 o'clock 
her home, near Standing Rock. Mrs. Sherard was born Dec. 3, 1816, and had been 
living in Chambers county for more than fifty years. She had lived a long and 
useful life and was loved and honored by all who knew her. Seven children, all 
of whom were present when the end came, survive her; Mr. John Sherard, of 
Graham, Ala; Mr. David Sherard, of this place; Misses Rebeca and Nannie Sherard 
and Mrs. John McClain, of Stroud; Mrs. Lon McCarter,of Wadley; Mrs. ElIzabeth 
Jacobs, of Fredonia: and there are thirty-two grand-children and twenty two 
great grand-children.
The funeral services were held at Fredonia Methodist church Sunday afternoon at 
2:00  o' clock, conducted by Rev. W. B. Morgan and the remains interred in the 
Fredonia cemetery.
