The LaFayette Sun February 26, 1908

DeLoach - Mrs. B. L. Pearson died at her home near here last Tuesday, and was 
buried at Higgins burial ground 
Wednesday. She was before her marriage Miss Katie Smith. She had been married 
about 5 years and leaves a husband and one child besides a host of relatives 
and friends. The bereaved have our sincerest sympathy.

Obituary
	Mrs. Luke Pearson departed this life on Feb. 18, 1908, and was laid to 
rest in the Higgins Cemetery on the next day, while a large concourse of 
friends and relatives witnessed the sad occasion.
	Pneumonia was the cause of her death, and while confined to her bed she 
gave birth to twin boys, and these also were placed in the same grave with her.
	The deceased was only 22 years of age; was married to Mr. Luke Pearson, 
son of H. D. Pearson, on the 3rd Sunday in December 1902, to whom she was much 
devoted until the last.
	She joined Mt. Hickory church in the summer of 1903 and was baptized by 
Elder W. B. Morgan, and was a devout young member her remaining days, and died 
perfectly happy and bid adieu to all around her with a hand shake 
and a kiss and then passed peacefully away. She thanked and praised her 
neighbors for their kindness to her during her sickness, assuring them that God 
would reward them for their kindness.
	She leaves one little girl of three summers, a sorrowing husband, a 
heart stricken father and mother, one sister, Mrs. Charley Freeman, and many 
friends and relatives to mourn her departure.
	She was a daughter of Mr. and Mrs. John Smith, of Chambers County. Her 
mother is the daughter of G. F. Whatley.
	The writer was chosen to preach on the occasion, but the weather was 
cold and every way inclement, so we only made a few remarks and had a short 
prayer, realizing at the same time that words are weak things upon such 
occasion as this.
	May the Lord be gracious to them all, we pray.

the Higgins Family Cemetery that reads: “Lizzie Kate (Smith) Pearson, & Twin 
Babies, wife of B. Luke Pearson, Feb. 1, 1886 – Feb. 18, 1908”)
