Submitted by: iamabravesfan@geocities.com ----------------------------------------------------------------------- Obit: David O Robinson Chattahoochee Valley Times, Wed, Feb 17, 1926: "DEATH OF NONOGENARIAN CONFEDERATE SOLDIER" Last Friday at 11 AM Funeral and Burial Held Sunday at 2 PM Mr David O Robinson, of Shawmut, an old and highly repected citizen of that community, died at his home Friday, at eleven AM. He was born within one mile of the spot where he died and lived in the immediate neighborhhod all of his life. He was ninety years of age and had been a member of the Methodist Church since the days of his youth. He was a brave confederate soldier having been a member of the West Point (GA) Guard, one of the first companies to enlist in the Confederate Army. He served four years and was four times shot down on the field of battle. He is survived by one son, Ellis Robinson, of Shawmut, and four daughters, Mrs Otis Burdette and Miss Beatrice Robinson, of Shawmut, Mrs James Newton, of Conyers, GA, and Mrs J B Bachman, of Milwaukee, Wis. Funeral services were conducted at the home Sunday afternoon by Rev Miller, of Shawmut, Rev J W Veach and Rev A W Dick, of West Point (GA).
