L. Wilson Mr. Wilson died in Ashville, N.C., Aug. 19th, 1907. He was one of the most prominent citizens in his community and his death is deeply deplored by a large circle of friends. He leaves a most devoted wife, whome he loved sincerely, a longing sister and brother and many relatives who deeply mourn his departure. He sufferened intense pain, yet when the paroxysms were over he was his same cheerful self, and his hope was to get well. His disposition was to be cheerful and happy, and he had a kind and pleasant smile for everybody. He surely loved his home and its surroundings, and how well he enjoyed his visits home with his family, and oh, how they miss his home coming, no one can tell same those who have passed through the same trying ordeal. We exclaim, why was he taken in the prime of life, and our echo is, the God Almighty in His infinite wisdom knew best. He was converted and joined the Methodist Church under Sam Jones, when quite a young man, in West Point, Ga. In 1886 he united himself with Penton Church, and his wife joined with him. He was a consistent member until his death. He loved his church and was always a liberal and cheerful giver of the cause. He was free and open-hearted and never marred the pleasures of the home circle by relating business troubles, a most noble trait, and now I say to the sorrowing wife, sister, brother and relatives be comforted, for blessed are they that mourn for they shall be comforted. You know that Leonard is gone to never return, but what a happy thought – all of you can go to him, and he is now standing at the pearly gates watching and waiting with outstretched arms to give you a welcome to that beautiful home above where there will be no more sorrow, sin nor death, but all will be peace and happiness around the throne of God. “We mourn his absence, miss him sore, We cannot help but weep; But hark! a voice all pitiful – This is not death, but sleep. He’s waiting in the homeland fair, Until his loved ones come, When once again his outstretched arms Shall speak our welcome home.” L.R.D.
