Wilkins (of) the County of Cham(bers) and State of Alabama being of sound and di(s)posing mind do by these presents ma(ke)ordain publish and declare this to be my last will and testament. 1st after all my legal debts are paid a(nd) discharged the remainder of my estate (both) real and personal property I give (and be-)queath as follows: 2nd I give and bequeath unto my be(loved) wife all my real estate and personal property (sic) not herein after disposed (of) viz: the lot whereon my dwelling (now) stands being the West half of the N.E. q(uar)ter and east half of N.W. quarter conta(ining) one hundred and sixty acres more (or less) of Section sixteen (16) township twenty f(?four or five) and Range twenty five also the West half of the N.E. quarter of Section three Township twenty four and range twen(ty) five, also the following negroes viz: a boy named Isaac, one girl named Lucy and also one named Amanda and it is my Will that said Amanda after g(iving) the usual notice be sold to the highest (bid-) der before the Court house door in the town of LaFayette Chambers County A(la-) bama and the proceeds of said ne-groes) (next page of document) to be kept by my wife Elizabeth Wil(kins) and disposed as herein after described also all monies on hand notes a(nd) accounts all stock such horses cattle hogs and sheep, household and kitchen furniture farming tools and crop and further grant empower and author(ize) my said wife and some other suit(able) person who will be hereafter named to assist her to take charge of manage and control and sell all or any of said property both real and personal (and) apply the proceeds of the sale of the property to the purchase of other pro(perty) either real or personal property a(nd) or they may think most advanta(geous) to the increase of said property and advantage to my wife and chil(dren) it is further more my desire (that) my wife have from the increase and proceeds that may accrue from the ______ property and the balance of such proceeds of such property if any to be used for the purpose (of) boarding, clothing and schooling my chil(dren) viz: Tarissa C. Wilkins, Julius Ceasor Wilkins, America M. Wilkins, Montera M. Wilkins, andCora C. Wilkins and after the death of mysaid wife the above property and increase (next page of document) shall be equally distributed between all my children. Nevertheless after my said wife and executor both have made full and complete return of all propert(y) both real estate and personal property a(nd) she being desirous to move to another (cou-)nty or state and move the said prop(erty) that she be required to give bon(d) and good and sufficient security in such county or state. 3rd I give and bequeath to my daugh(ter)Terrissa C. Wilkins Six hundred dollars (to) be given to her when she marries or arrives at the age of twenty one (for)her use and benefit during her (life) and after her death to be equally (distrib-)uted between her children, (and) further more when she arrives at (the) age of fourteen it is my will that (she) choose a guardian who is hereby authorized, after giving hand and security take charge of said bequeath. 4th I give and bequeath to my son Jul(ius) C. Wilkins six hundred dollars, one go(ld) watch, all my medical books, and when he arrives at the age of eighteen that one hundred dollars be taken fr(om) that portion of the property in her hands _____ exclusive of the six hundred doll(ars) above be ______________ and the (next page of document) latter amount he is to receive when (he) arrives at the age of twenty one year(s of) age to take charge of said manage said amount. 5th I give and bequeath to my daughter America M. Wilkins six hun(d)red dollars and that she choose (a) guardian when at the age of fourteen who shall take charge of said amount thus bequeathed and deliver to her when she arrives at the age of twenty one (or) marries, and the said money is to be (for)her use during her life and after h(er de)ath to be equally distributed a(mong) her children. 6th I give and bequeath to my dau(ghter) Montera L. Wilkins, six hundred (dollars)and that she choose a guardian at the (age) of fourteen who shall take charge of said amount and when she marries or arrives at the age of twenty one (the) said money is to be given her for (her) use during her life and after her (death) to be equally divided between (her) children. 7th I give and bequeath to my daughter Cora C Wilkins six hundred dollars and when she arrives at the age of (next page of document) fourteen she shall choose a gu(ard-)ian who will take charge of (said) money and deliver to her (when) she marries or arrives at the age of twenty one for her use durin(g) her life and after her d(eath) to be equally distributed betw(een) her children. And I do further more hereby and by these presents nominate constitute and appoint my said (wife) executrix and also John (Y) Trammell of the county of C(ham-)bers and state of Alabama. (My) executor who are hereby autho(rized) to take charge of all property bo-(th) real and personal and marriage and dispose of said prop(erty) as above required after giving bond and security in double the amount of the estimated (notes) of the said property and furthermore that they make a full and complete inventory of all property both real (es)tate and personal property, and return the same to the Judge of Probate of Chambers County Ala, as soon after letters of administration is granted to them as time allows.
