List enumerations are chiefly from the memoirs of Robert Lawrence written 
approximately 8 months prior to his death on November 2, 1901 at the age of 51 
years. Lawrence was born November 15, 1849 in Cherokee County. Since the age of 
21 he was in partnership with his brother, William Henry Lawrence, and jointly 
formed W.H. Lawrence & Company, a general mercantile business in Cedar Bluff 
which ceased operations in 1888.
