Funeral services are scheduled at 2 P.M. Alabama time, Friday in the Salem Baptist Church. The Rev. Marshall Morgan and the Rev. Bruce Carson will conduct the services. Burial will follow in the Salem Cemetery. He was born on May 2, 1902 in Spring Garden, Ala. and had lived in Cherokee County all of his life. He was a member of the Salem Baptist Church and a retired ore mine worker. Survivors are his wife, the former Miss Katie Almeda Reid; seven daughters, Mrs. L. D. Erwin of Anniston, Ala., Mrs. Herman Davis of Cedartown, Mrs. Joy Humphrey of Albertsville, Ala., Mrs. J. W. Coley of Decatur, Ga., Mrs.. Jerry Johnson of Piedmont, Ala., Mrs. Archie Toll of Atlanta and Miss Elizabeth Slaughter of Sidhart, Ala.; three sons, Franklin Slaughter of Alabama, Thomas Slaughter of Atlanta and Ray Slaughter of Sidhart, Ala.; two brothers Willie Slaughter of Cedartown and Luther Slaughter of Rockmart; three sisters, Mrs. Julia Gossett of Piedmont, Ala., Mrs. Effie Leak and Mrs. Lucy Knight both of Chattanooga; 15 grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. Pallbearers will be Hubert Jones, Ed Williams, Malcolm Mitchell, Paul White, Billy Slaughter and John Robertson. The Lester C. Litesey Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
