Some Residents Of The Mountain Creek Soldiers Home

Jefferson Manley Faulkner was the founder of the Mountain Creek Soldiers Home.  
He was born Jul 14, 1843, he died May 18, 1907.
He enlisted Aug-1861 West Point GA at the age of 18 years as a private in 
Captain Jefferson Faulkner’s Independent Cavalry. He later enlisted as 2nd Lt 
in Company B, 8th Confederate Cavalry. He was later promoted to 1st Lt. He is 
buried in the Confederate Memorial Park Cemetery Chilton County.

County AL. 
He is buried in the Confederate Memorial Park Cemetery Chilton County AL.

Chamblee, Robert
He was born Jul 25, 1836, he died Feb 27, 1929. 
He enlisted in Blountsville AL as a private in Grave’s Company. He is buried in 
the Cullman City Cemetery Cullman County. There was a letter written from the 
Mountain Creek Soldiers Home on his behalf Apr-1921. 

Edge, J.D.
He died Apr 15, 1921.
Possibly from Chambers County AL. 
He is buried in the Confederate Memorial Park Cemetery Chilton County AL.

Edwards, Joseph E.
He was born Feb 17, 1842, he died Dec 1, 1911. 
He enlisted Aug-1861 Tuscaloosa AL as a private in Company K, 20th Alabama 
Infantry. He is buried in the Confederate Memorial Park Cemetery Chilton County 
AL.

Gunn, Cyrus A.  
He was born Dec 7, 1842, he died Apr 13, 1915. 
He enlisted May-1861 Versailles MO as a private in Company D, 2nd Missouri 
Infantry. He filed for his pension in 1900 in Lowndes County AL. He filed for 
his pension in 1907-1914 in the Mountain Creek Soldier Home Chilton County. 
He is listed on the 1910 Chilton County Census as a resident of the Mountain 
Creek Soldiers Home. 

Hall, Martha wife of?
She died Aug 13, 1929
She is buried in the Confederate Memorial Park Cemetery Chilton County AL.

Huffstulter, Martha M. [wife of?]
She died Jan 9, 1930. Death certificate does not state place of burial.

Henrt, Laura
She died Mar 3, 1930
Death certificate does not state place of burial. 

Jones, Feuntis
He died Oct 28, 1924.
No war record can be located. Given name is possibly spelled wrong.
The body was sent back to Montgomery County AL.

Jones, J.T.
He died Jan 29, 1922 
No War record can be located. Death certificate does not state place of burial. 

Maddox, Winnie [Wife of James M. Maddox]
She died May 18, 1939
She is buried with her husband in the Confederate Memorial Park Cemetery 
Chilton County.

Mann, James W.
He is listed on the 1920 Chilton County Census as a resident of the Mountain 
Creek Soldiers Home. He enlisted 1863 Monroe County AL as a private in Company 
B, 3rd Alabama Cavalry. He filed for his pension in 1907 in Mobile County Al. A 
letter was written from the Mountain Creek Soldiers Home on his behalf in 1917. 

McCary, Thomas B. 
He died Apr 6, 1929.
He stated he served in Company B, 20th Alabama Infantry [No record could be 
found] He is buried He is buried in the Confederate Memorial Park Cemetery 
Chilton County AL.

McKenzie?, J.H.
He died May 12, 1916
No War record can be located.
He was buried in the Confederate Memorial Park Cemetery Chilton County AL.

Partridge, Wm H.
He died Sep 10, 1926
He served as an Sgt in Company H, Wades Confederate Cavalry. Body was sent home 
for burial. 

Peters, W.J.P.
He died May 7, 1907.
He enlisted as a private in Company B, 1st Alabama Cavalry. He was buried at 
Philocto-?

Waller, John
He was born Mar 10, 1845, he died Mar 23, 1916.
He enlisted as a private in Company K, 7th Alabama Cavalry. He was buried in 
Thorsby Cemetery Chilton County AL.

Yarbrough, William H.
He died Sep 5, 1927. 
He served in Company H, Wades Confederate Cavalry.
Death certificate states "body removal".
