John Carl Poarch, age 81 of Verbena, passed away on February 9, 2012 at his 
residence.  He was born in Birmingham [Alabama] on August 27, 1930; the son of 
the late Everette Poarch and the late Ida Edrie Rossen.  

He was employed [retired] with Alabama Power Company.

he is survived by: wife, Nancy Goad Poarch; Son, David (Sherri) Poarch; 
daughter, Laura (Greg) Green; daughter, Amy (Jimmy) Zachry; son, Steve 
(Tamara) Poarch; five grandchildren: Andrew [Poarch], Rebecca [Poarch], Beth 
[Green], Alex [Green], and Allison [Mitchell]; sister, Ann Ellis; sister 
Kathleen Stallings; brother Everette Poarch; and brother Jack Poarch. 

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on sunday, Feb. 12 from the Verbena 
Baptist Church, with Rev. Charles Ellis and the Rev. Tony Christensen 
officiating.

The family will receive friend one hour prior to the service at the church.

Burial will follow in the Verbena Cemetery.

The family request that in lieu of flowers, donations be made to the American 
Heart Association.

Final care and arrangements entrusted to the Ellison-Mims Funeral Home of 
Clanton [Alabama].
