Carlisle, 1879, widow of Robert Carlisle: Choctaw County, Alabama War of 1812 Claim of Widow for Service Pension Under the provisions of Sections 4736 to 4740, inclusive, Revised Statutes, and the Act of March 11, 1878. N. B. All the blank spaces in this form must be carefully filled up in accordance with instructions on the back hereof; and from the best information possessed, or obtainable, by the applicant. State of Alabama, County of Choctaw, ss. On this 10th day of January, A. D., one thousand eight hundred and seventy nine, personally appeared before me, B. H. Warren Probate Judge, the same being a court of record within and for the County and State aforesaid, (1) Sarah A. Carlisle, aged 51 years, a resident of Choctaw county, in the State of Alabama, who, being duly sworn according to law, declares that she is the widow of (2) Robert Carlisle deceased, who was the identical (3) Robert Carlisle, who served under the name of (4) Robert Carlisle as a (5) Private in the Company commanded by Captain McIntoshs U. S. Fencibles in the (blank) regiment of (blank) commanded by (blank) in the war of (6) 1812; that her said husband (7) volunteered in North Carolina on or about the (blank) day of in the year A. D. 1812 for the term of (crossed through), and continued in actual service in said war for the term of (8) eighteen months and whose services terminated, by reason of (9) an honorable discharge at (blank) on the (blank) day of (blank) A. D. She further states that the following is a full description of her said husband at the time of his enlistment, viz: (1) he was five feet ten inches high, light sandy hair, eyes blue, occupation a farmer birth place North Carolina aged eighty six years when he died. She further states that she was married to the said Robert Carlisle, in the county of Russell, and in the State of Alabama on the 3rd day of August A. D. 1846 by one (11) Matthew S. Thompson, who was a (12) Justice of the Peace; and that her name before said marriage was Sarah A. Falkner; and she further states that (13) her husband Robert Carlisle was previously married to Elizabeth Roberts who died about September 1845 and that her said husband (14) Robert Carlisle died in Choctaw County in the State of Alabama on the 7th day of December A. D. 1878; and she further declares that the following have been the places of residence of herself and her said husband since the date of his discharge from the Army, viz (15) North Carolina, Edgefield District South Carolina, and Russell and Choctaw counties Alabama. She makes this declaration for the purpose of obtaining the Pension to which she may be entitled under Sections 4736 to 4740, inclusive, Revised statutes, and the Act of March 11, 1878, and hereby appoints THOS. C. FULLERTON, of Washington, D. C., her true and lawful attorney, to prosecute her claim. And she further declares that she has not heretofore made her application for (16) bounty land or pension and that her residence is county of Choctaw State of Alabama and that her post office address is Daniel's Store Choctaw County Alabama. Williams, aged 37 years residing in Choctaw County State of Alabama and John C. Holloman, aged 25 years residing in Choctaw county Alabama. (Witness to John C. Holloman signature was B. H. Warren) persons whom I certify to be respectable and entitled to credit, and who, being by me duly sworn, say that they have known the said Sarah A. Carlisle for 13 years and for 10 years, respectively; that they were present and saw her sign her name (or make her mark) to the foregoing declaration; that they have every reason to believe, from the appearance of said claimant and their acquaintance with her, that she is the identical person she represents herself to be; and they further say that they are able to identify her as the person who was the wife of the identical (17) Robert Carlisle, who rendered the service alleged in the above application (in the company of Captain McIntoshs U. S. Fencibles in the war of 1812, by the following named facts and circumstances, viz (18) that we have lived within a few miles of the claimant for ten years and know that she lived with the said Robert Carlisle as his wife and was so recognized by them during client _____unto his death.
