A. Miller, died at her home here Tuesday morning at 9:00 She was ninety-five years of age, having been born in 1860. Her death was attributed to infirmities of old age, having been in ill health for the past five years, and a semi-invalid for the past five months. One of the two oldest residents of Butler, Mrs. Miller was born Ledonia Daniel, a daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Daniel. She remained at the old home place near Butler and was one of the most charming young ladies of the county when, in 1891 she was married to “Mr. Fred”. Throughout her lifetime she was most active in social and religious affairs of the county and many honors were bestowed on her in recognition of her efforts. She was Organizing president of the Ruffin Dragoon Chapter of the U.D.C. of Butler, and the Abney-Daniel Chapter of the Children of the Confederacy was named for her, along with Mrs. Helen Abney Bruister. She also held membership in the Butler Baptist Church and Eastern Star, serving as Worthy Matron and holding other offices of importance through the years. She was a member of the Real Daughters Club of the Alabama Division of the United Daughters of the Confederacy. Although never having had children of her own, she loved children and, on various occasions, groups from the grammar school would visit with her, for which she expressed deep appreciation. Funeral Services were held Wednesday afternoon at 4:00 o’clock from the Butler Baptist Church, conducted by Rev. John L. Higdon, assisted by Rev. C.J. Fuller. Interment followed in the Butler Cemetery where she was laid to rest by her late husband who preceded her in death nine years ago. Pallbearers were Charlie Hale Syker, Dady Gibson, Hunter Phillips, Willie Tew, Clarence Dorough and Wesley Lanier.
