WIGGINS) State of Alabama 14 Jan 1857 Clarke Co. On this the 14th day of January One Thousand Eight Hundred fifty seven, personally appeared before me B.S.Doyle an acting Justice of the Peace in and for the county aforesaid. Mrs. Isabella Wiggins, aged sixty nine years a resident of the state and county aforesaid who being duly sworn declares that she is the widow of John C. Wiggins, who as a volunteer soldier in a melitia company commanded by Capt. Hopson in the Regiment commanded by Col. Few in the war with Great Britton declared by the United States on the 18th day of June 1812, that her husband belonged to said company and was mustered into servis at Sandersville in Washington Co. in the state of Georgia in the month of October in the year of 1813, as I believe. And he volanteerd for the term of six months, but peace being made he lacked a few days of serving out the time.He was legally discharged at Sandersville in the said county of Washington in the state of Georgia. As will more fully appear from the muster roll of said company the discharge being lost or mislaid. She further states that she was married to John C. Wiggins in Washington Co in the State of Georgia on the 7th day of March in the year of 1805 by John Curry, a Justice of the peace. She further states that her name before her marriage was Isabella Sparks, and that her said husband died on the 4th day of February 1830 in Marengo county Ala. And that she is still a widow. She makes this application for the purpose of obtaining the bounty lands that she may be entitled to under the act of Congress passed 30th March 1855. (Next page) She further states that she has not received any land under the said act of Congress nor any subsequent act. (signed) Isabelle Wiggins Sworn to and subscribed before me on the day & year above written. And on the same day personally appeared before me Woodin M. Burge [not sure of spelling] & John Wells, residents of the state and county aforesaid to me known as credable witnesses who being duly sworn declars that they knew her to live with the said John C. Wiggins as his wife for the term of five years previos to his death and that she is still the widow of the said John C. Wiggins described in the foregoing declaration and that they knew her to live with the said John C. Wiggins as his wife for the term of five years previous to his death and that she is still the widow of the said John C. Wiggins described in the foregoing declaration whom they believe to be the identicle person who performed the military services therein named. And that they are disinterested in this claim.
