Gilmore June 19, 1862 Clarke County Democrat continued Here are more excerpts from the Clarke County Democrat of June 19, 1862: " In our last issue we recorded the death of one of Rev. S. M. Gilmore's gallant sons. This week we have to announce the loss of another, Stephen A. Gilmore, who died in the Confederate States Hospital at Oxford, Miss., on the 28th of May, 1862 of typhus fever. The fact of their demise occurring whilst in the noble service of their country as soldiers will perpetuate their memories and should be a proud consolation to their bereaved parents and friends, and we hope their affliction may be borne with Christian resignation and fortitude."
