BORN March 25, 1826 DIED June 17, 1877 HE DIED AS HE LIVED TRUSTING IN GOD Additional Comments: Samuel B. McManus was my great-great-grandfather. In 1862, he joined the 38th Alabama Infantry from Clarke County, Alabama. His occupation was teamster for which he was paid 25 cents a month. He was captured November 25, 1863 at Missionary Ridge, Tennessee during the Battle of Chattanooga. He was then confined at Rock Island, Illinois in the first group of prisoners sent there. On May 03, 1865 Samuel was sent to New Orleans to be released as an exchange prisoner.
