All rights reserved. http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm http://www.usgwarchives.net/al/alfiles.htm ************************************************ File contributed for use in USGenWeb Archives by: Susan Beck wondermomal@aol.com January 27, 2004, 1:51 am Source: The Vickers Family Resource Page Written: October 29 1834 Recorded: June 19 1835 Henry County} Alabama} Know all men by these presents that I Joel Vickers in my proper senses do in consideration of the uncertainty of life and the certainty of death, feel it my duty for the benefit of my lawful heirs to make this my last will and testament wherin I do bequeath to my beloved family as follows: To my beloved wife I do will my lot of land {during} her life and then to be divided between my three sons, Joel, Thomas and William and one cow and calf to each of my elder children mentioned, Stephen Vickers, Samuel Vickers, Avia Palsey, Nancy Budy and four cows and calves to my daughter Milly and her lawful begotten bodily heirs[] of cattle and the balance of my stock to be for the use of my beloved wife {during} her life and then to be equally divided between my sons Joel and Thomas and William and Becca and all my stock of hogs to be for the use of my beloved wife and family and my oldest horse to be sold and equally divided between my children and my youngest calf to be for my son Joel and the next youngest calf to be for my son Thomas and the gray mare to be for William or otherwise I leave it in the power of my son Joel to sell the gray mare and raise my son William another one and my Blacksmith tools to be for my son William; but these smith tools to be for the use of my family until my son William should be of age, my sorrel mare to be for the use and benefit of my beloved wife {during} her lifetime and then to be sold and equally divided between all my children; my crop to be for the use and benefit of my wife and family and all my plantation tools and household furniture to be for the use and benefit of my family. confirming of the above will, I do hereunto set my hand this 29th of October 1834. I leave my brother Jacob Vickers and my son Joel Vickers executors to my will. his Joel Vickers mark attest Michael Oaks, Jonathan Jowers. {The State of Alabama} Personally appeared in open court at a Regular Orphans Henry County } Court for the county Michael Oaks and Jonathan Jowers the witnesses whose names appear to the within will and who after being duly sworn deposeth and saith that they and each of them signed the same as witnesses at his request and his presents. July 23,1816, Montgomery Co, GA 1820 Montgomery Co, GA Census, p.61 Joel 45+ Wife 45+ 1 female 26/45, 2 males 16/26, 1 female 16/26, 1 Female 10/16,2 males 0/10, 2 females 0/10, The Georgia Journal. Dec 23,1823, 40acres sold adjoining Esau Bass & Joel Vickers. TGJ May 25,1824 " 450 acres pine land, lying in Montgomery Co, on the waters of the Oconee River, whereon Joel Vickers formerly lived, levied on as his property, to satisfy an execution in favor of Robert Flournoy vs Nathan Williamson, William T.
