Amen. I, Samuel McClure of Clark county, State of Alabama, being weak in body, but of sound mind and considering the certainty of death and the uncertainty of time; and to the end I may be the better prepared to leave this world whenever it shall please God to call me hence do therefore make and declare this my last will and testament in manner following that is to say first and principally I commend my soul unto the hands of Almighty God my creator, hoping for free pardon and remission of all my sins, and to enjoy everlasting happiness in his heavenly kingdom through Jesus Christ my Savior, my body I commit to the Earth at the discretion of my Executors herein after named ~ And as to my Land stock of all Kinds and all the property I may die possessed of I give and bequeath unto my beloved wife Elizabeth McClure To hold during her natural life or widowhood, for the comfortable support of herself and the younger children I may leave with her ~ hoping that she will take good care of them and bring them up decently ~ My Eldest Son Ben I have given as much as I could afford to give the other children being married off and doing well I leave it in the breast of my wife to give to them what she pleases at her Death ~ My Debts I desire my wife to pay out of my property left to her ~ and all Debts due to me, I desire my said wife to collect for her own use and the use of her children she has in charge. It is my further will and desire that if my wife should think proper to marry after my death that My property then in her hands shall be equally divided between her and my younger children I further declare my wife that my said wife Elizabeth McClure and my son Robert McClure be and hereby are made Executrise and Executor of this my last will and Testament In witness whereof I Samuel McClure have to this my will Set my hand and Seal this 21st day of February 1820, Samuel McClure (his mark)(hand drawn seal) Signed in the presence of Lewis W.
