UNMARKED GRAVES: Name: Date: Garrett, Elijah Nov 13, 1809-Jan 06, 1889 SOLID ROCK COVERED GRAVE Garrett, Elizabeth Rice 1813-1884 BROKEN ROCK COVERED GRAVE OTHER UNMARKED GRAVES Shiloh Primitive Baptist Church was organized around 1870 by Elijah Garrett. In 1869 Elijah Garrett purchased the old Patterson estate. He built a Church and later organized a school in the same building, of which he was the teacher. Shiloh joined the Hillabee Baptist Primitive Baptist Association in the early 1870's. A Shiloh Primitive Baptist Church in Clay County hosted the Hillabee Baptist Primitive Baptist Association meeting in 1873. In 1873 there were 12 members of the church. By 1876 there were 25 members of the church. Around 1875 Elijah Garrett's son Rev. Mitchell Bennett Garrett became the Paster of Shiloh Primitive Baptist Church. The church was still active in 1895. Rev. N.M. Cook was the Paster in the 1890's. There were 35 members of the church in 1895. Surnames of the members were: Blair, Chandler, Garrett, Harris, Russell and Webb. Rev. Elijah Garrett was born in Laurens County SC. He was the son of Jonathan Garrett and Jane [Higgins]. He married 1. Julia Ann Louisa Parker, he married 2. Elizabeth Rice.
