Carter died March 20, 1898. Blount County News-Dispatch: We lost a democrat voter, S.J. Carter, who died last Sunday night he found dead Monday morning. He was alone in a room to himself. He was very old about 80 years of age and had heart trouble. Letter from Georgia Ann Carter to her Aunt Josephine Carter widow of Nolen Carter of Marshall County Alabama: Dear Aunt Josephine, I will write you to let you no we are all well. I hope that these few lines will find you all well. Aunt Josie I got the letter you wrote to Sam Ingram the other day. I saw a letter from Mr. Gilley a week ago that stated father's death, but not how he died. Aunt I want you to write me and tell me all you no about his death. If the County has not got no ministrdar some of you can peain to the judge of the probate and he will attend to that. Dear Aunt I will close hope to here from you soon. May 1, 1898, Abner P.O. Clay County ALA. Additional Comments: Note: Wife Amanda Curtis-Carter is not mentioned in the estate record. Note: Amanda Carter was living in Clay County at the time of Seaborn Carter's death. Clay County Marriage Records: James WARREN to Emma CARTER on June 4, 1888, by H. C. Knight, at the bride’s house. Bond: James Warren, W. G. Knight and H. C. Knight. This is to certify that I am respectly sadisfied (sic) for you as Probate Judge of Clay to issue marriage license for my daughter, Emer Carter, June the 3, 1888. Signed: Mandy Carter. Witness: H. C. Knight and W. G. Knight. L. J. DUKE to Fanney CARTER on August 22, 1889 by H. C. Knight at the bride’s mothers house. Bond: L. Y. Duke and W. C. McDonald James W. DUKE to R. T. CARTER on March 13, 1890 by W. H. Preston, MG, at Mrs. Carter’s house. Bond: James W. Duke and J. D. Knight. To Mr. H. M. Evans: Please grant marriage license to my son, J. N.
