T. Brown and Emma Brown in hand paid by J. M. Jordan the receipt whereof is hereby acknowledged by the grantors, we the said J. T. and wife, Emma Brown do grant, bargain, sell and convey unto the said J. M. Jordan the following described Real Estate, to-wit: The North 1/2 of the NE 1/4 and the NE 1/4 of the NW 1/4 of Section (13) Thirteen, Township (22) Twenty-two, Range (9) Nine continuing one hundred twenty (120) acres more or less situated in Clay County, Alabama. To have and to hold, to the said J. M. Jordan and his heirs and assigns forever. And we do for ever release our heirs, executors and administrators covenant with the said J. M. Jordan his heirs and assigns that we lawfully seized in fee simple of said premises; that they are free from all encumbrances, and that we have a good right to sell and convey the same as aforesaid; that we will and our heirs, executors and administrators shall warrant and defend the same to the said J. M. Jordan his heirs, executors and assigns forever, against the lawful claims of all persons. In witness whereof we have hereunto set our hands and seals this 6th day of February 1922. Fargason, a Justice of the Peace in and for said County and State, hereby certify that J. T. and Emma Brown whose names are signed to the foregoing conveyance, and who are known to me acknowledged before me on this day that being informed of the contents of the conveyance, they executed the same volutarily on the day the same bears date. T. Brown who being excamined separate and apart from the husband touching her signature to the within conveyance, acknowledged that she signed the same of her own free will and accord, and without fear, constraints or threats on the part of the husband. Thompson, Judge of Probate Fee $85 Additional Comments: James Monroe "Jimmiroe" (1860-1927) and wife, Laura Miller Jordan (1861-1940), were residents of the Mellow Valley Community in Clay County. They owned several parcels of land in the area. This deed bears the initials "W.R.J." and is most likely property belonging after 1939 to their son, Willie Radford Jordan and wife, Maude Leftwich Jordan.
