The election held in Clay County last Monday week, resulted in the follows: 

Probate Judge, J.L. Williams
Circuit Clerk, W. D. Haynes
Sheriff, Wm. L. Dick
Tax Assessor, Jas White 
Tax Collector, W. W. Wilkins
County Commissioners W.T. Whatley, Richard Cole, Campbell Parker and Thos. 
Newsome. 

The County site is the Centre of the county.



Additional Comments:
Dec 15, 1866:
The Legislature during the last session established seven new counties.

"Clay" embracing Eastern Talladega and Western Randolph County, county site
Lineville.
