Clay County Commissioners Court Minutes    April 1877

Paupers Claims Allowed:

Upon proper proof made to the Court, the following named persons were placed 
upon the Paupers List and the following allowance made to wit:


LUCINDA WEED $7.50

NATHAN MORRIS $9.00

lYDIA SCOTT  $6.00

SARAH BOLTON $9.00

DICK BARKSDALE $9.00

CHARLES PRESSLY $9.00

DANIEL CHARACTER $7.50

MRS. DANIEL CHARACTER $7.50

LUCINDA PACK $9.00

SARAH PARISH $9.00

POLLY HARMON $7.50

Ordered the Judge of Probate to draw his warrant on the Treasurer for the 
respective amounts above named.

Hope this helps someone.

This has given me a closer look at my GGGgrandparents (Daniel & Jemima 
Character) & how little they were given to survive on (maybe this is early 
welfare)
