Confederate Soldier
Private 3rd Alabama Infantry Co. G
Enlisted July 1862 Camp Watts AL
James A. Smith a Confederate Soldier. Buried in Bethany Cem. Clay Co. Alabama. 
James A. (JIM) Smith is buried next to his sister Peggy Jane (Smith) Phillips. 
He was living with his son R. W. Smith the last few years of his life and in 
1914 he was almost blind from old age. James A. (JIM) Smith was married to Mary 
Elizabeth Colley. She was the daughter of Zachariah M. and Sarah G. Colley form 
Tallapoosa Co. Alabama.
