Jim Glass, colored people living near Lineville, in Clay County, had a quarrel, when the husband left the house and went off to his work. When he returned, he found the lifeless body of their infant boy four months old lying on the floor of the cabin and beside it a bloody axe. The mother had split the child's head open with the axe, and then bundling up a few clothes was seen to go to Lineville where she deposited a portion of her budget and then took to the woods. Several parties have since been scouring the country in search of the murdering woman, but at last accounts she had succeeded in avoiding arrest.
