The first named church a week's meeting was held, some 20 professed conversions, 6 added by baptism and 3 by, letter, and many left mourning and inquiring the way for salvation. I had Bro. James Jordan with me all the time. Then I came to Bethel. We continued a week, and many seemed to be anxious to learn the way of salvation. Only 4 were baptized. I had Bros. John Teague and Wm. Witt to assist me. There are some other indications of rivals. Joseph C. Beverly, Oakfuskee, Ala, August 30, 1863 Additional Comments: This is Bethel-Delta listed above. Rev. Joseph C. Beverly and Rev. Wm C. Witt were part of the early years of Bethel-Delta Baptist Church. Rev. Wm C. Witt later helped organized Mt. Olive Baptist Church Delta Ala.
