Ashland Progress July 25, 1935
The 70th birthday of Mrs. O. O. Bunn (Martha Beck) may well be remembered by 
several of her friends. Sunday, July 21, nearby friends surprised her by 
arriving early with well-filled lunch baskets to spend the day. To our surprise, 
we learned that Mr. Bunn's birthday had been only 6 days before, so we 
celebrated the two, in one day. At 11:30, all guests had arrived, and the 
lunches were spread on the table. After lunch, we were entertained in various 
ways until Mr. Bunn treated us to a great quantity of fine watermelons. At the 
request of Mrs. Bunn, several old hymns were then sung with organ accompaniment 
by Miss Lucille Johnston. That was the close of a very memorable day. Those 
present were: Mr. and Mrs. Mack Johnston, Mr. and Mrs. T. J. Gibson (Mrs. Bunn's 
daughter), Mr. and Mrs. R. J. Gillam, Mr. and Mrs. B. J. Burks, Mr. and Mrs. G. 
A. Ward, Misses Loral Gibson, Artie Gillam, Lucille and Vivian Johnston and 
Verna Lou Ward. Joe Johnston, Theron Ward, Eluid and Ezra Gibson.
