Anniston Star December 16, 1934
Campbell, according to reports received here was shot near the home of Cecil 
Dennis, who lived in the Bethel Church community in the southern section of 
Cleburne County. Neither Cleburne nor Clay County officials knew what led to the 
shooting, but stated they were looking for Dennis for questioning. The affair 
took place about dark Saturday night. It was said Sheriff Will Owen of Cleburne 
County had not been to the scene of the shooting late Saturday night. At the 
hospital, Campbell's injury was termed critical, but he was still alive early 
Sunday morning little hope was held for his recovery.

Oscar Campbell died Dec 18, 1934, He was buried at Bethlehem Cemetery in Cleburne 
County, Al.
