Anniston Star January 31, 1904
Some time ago Samuel Rogers gave an order to a man who lives over in Clay County 
for alive wild animal, one that was ferocious. Yesterday the order was filled 
and well filled according to the opinion of those who saw the goods delivered.  
A man drove up with a large packing case over one end of which a heavy wire 
screen was securely fastened. Before he could get the box onto the sidewalk 
fierce sputtering and growls had attracted a number of people to the scene. In 
the box there was a large catamount ready to engage with any portion of man's 
anatomy that might come within his reach. The onlookers were much interested but 
maintained a respectable distance. Mr. Rogers is going to remove the teeth and 
claws of the big cat, so he says and send the animal as a present to his brother 
William in Barnesville, Ohio. There was no body in the crowd yesterday who 
volunteered to assist Mr. Rogers in the amputation act.
