Anniston STAR June 5, 1951
The new Clay County Park, located near Delta, will open Thursday with two lakes, 
well-stocked with game fish, picnic grounds and play areas waiting for visitors. 
The new public park was developed by the Clay County Commission working with the 
State Department of Conservation. Boats will be available at both lakes, located 
one mile west of Delta on a paved highway. The Department of Conservation, which 
has general control of the park, has named Clay County Commissioner Heston Dial 
as the custodian of the park. Mr. Dial will provide boats, fishing tackle, bait, 
sandwiches and drinks for those who visit the park. Clay County has extended an 
Invitation to citizens of all surrounding counties to attend the opening day 
festivities.
