Birmingham News March 26, 1940
A Clay County jury here today sentenced two white men to 32 years in prison after 
conviction for raping a 10-year-old Negro girl. The two men Howard Clements 27 
and Clarence Langley 26, WPA workers, were arrested last Dec. 19. following an 
attack on a Negro girl on Dec. 13.
