Their injuries were said to be slight but all three suffered from shock over their experience. She was treated at Garner Hospital for small cuts in her mouth. The mother and sister also came along, but their names were not recorded at the hospital. The bolt of lightning struck the house and ripped away some of the boards in the room where the trio was. They were knocked to the floor hospital attendants were told.
