Twelve defendants were found guilty, 1 came clear, 2 cases were nol prossed and 1 dismissed for lack of evidence. The following are the cases tried and sentences imposed: Charlie Joiner, having whiskey, $50 and 3 months. C. D. Shaddix, having whiskey, $50. Lewis Richardson, having whiskey, $50 and cost. Howard Young, public drunkenness, $20 and cost. Jess Shaddix and L. G. Carroll, attempting to distill, $50 and cost in each case. Howard Clements and Clarence Langley, carnal knowledge of girl under 12 years of age, 32 years each. Tom Walker and Loman Simmons were each given a year and a day for distilling. Manuel Greathouse was given a year and 118 days. L. J. Adair 1 year and 90 days. Both of these sentences were suspended on two years' probation and paying cost, which they did. The jury made a mistrial in the case of Will Finley, charged with rape. It is understood the jury stood 9 to 3 for conviction.
