Anniston Star July 9, 1944
Mr. and Mrs. John Davis celebrated their birthday Sunday, July 2. at their home 
at Delta. Five of their six children were present A host of friends and other 
relatives were present Mrs. Davis is 78 years old and Mr. Davis, 77. They served 
dinner picnic style. Those present were Mr. and Mrs. Albert Davis and family of 
Delta; Mr. Lonnie Davis and Mr. and Mrs. Russell Davis of Lannett; Mr. and Mrs. 
Chesie Davis of Anniston; Mr. and Mrs. Troy Luker and family of Delta; Mr. and -
Mrs. Thasker Ball and daughter; Mr. and Mrs. Sybil McKleroy and daughter; Miss 
Mattle Davis of Anniston; Mr. and Mrs. Jim Weldon and family; Mrs. Dorthy Davis 
and children; Mr. and Mrs. Carey Luker of Lanett, Mr. and Mrs. Diege Shivers and 
son of West Point; Mr. and Mrs. Carson East and family; Mr. and Mrs. Kermit 
Davis. Mr. and Mrs. Jim Latham. Mr. and Mrs. Lewis Cofield of Delta, Mr. Newt 
Chapman, of Lineville. Mr. Lewis Lathum of Lineville, Mr. J. T. Manard, Mr. 
Nunneley Camel, Mr. Winfield Smith, Miss Minnie Philips, Mr. Pat Philips, Mr. 
George Gregg and daughter, Flora Bell, Mr. and Mrs. Noah Duke and family, Miss 
Mattie Duke, Mr. Tolbert Ingram the Rev. Gilbert Daugherty. Mr. Henry Martin 
Bean and family, Mr. and Mrs. Henry Luker and Mrs. Thelma Sheppard and children, 
all of Delta.
