C. Hamlin, in this county, was recently struck by lightning, and the family made a miraculous escape. Mr. H.'s father sends these facts. They were awake and in bed when the house was struck by lightning about 9 or 10 o'clock. They were rendered insensible, and don't know how long they remained so, but when they came to their senses, they lay for several minutes unable to speak or move. At length they realized that the house was on fire and were able to get out and save their children, and all got to the old house where we found them. The house burned down to the sills, and everything in it was consumed by fire. I sent at once for Dr. McDiamid, and went home and got clothing for them till next morning. My son had his nose and ear blistered, and his hair singed. Two children were in bed with my son and his wife. The babe, about five weeks old, was in its mother's arms, and was shocked considerably. The others were not butt My son has not yet recovered from the shock.
