The Lineville Headlight October 25, 1928
On Sunday, October 21, 1928 the writer was both honored and pleased with an 
invitation to attend the family re-union of Dr. William A. Campbell at his home 
at pyrion Ala.  When we approached that beautiful emenience shaded with with a 
cluster of of spreading oaks, and heard the happy throngs that had gathered 
around the home we were reminded of the boyhood day's and the old October camp 
meetings.

Dr. Campbell is an honored member of one of Clay Counties oldest and most 
prominent and useful of familys a family that has been in the same community 
for over three quarters of a century.  

Alexander Campbell, father of Dr. Campbell came from North CArolina in 1837, 
and settled not far from what is not known as Campbells cross roads.  From that 
time until the present the Campbell family has been prominent leaders in that 
community taking leading parts in all public enterprises of the community.

At some other time, when we have more time and data at our disposal I hope to 
give a fuller account of this large and interesting family, whose loyal 
friendship we hav enjoyed since boyhood.

Dr. Campbell has reared a family of seven children, three sons and four 
daughters, all of whom were present with the family Sunday to pay tribute to 
the parents whose lavish hospitality we all enjoyed so much.

Besides his immediate family brothers and sisters and other close connection 
made a happy groupe of over forty people.

Dr. Campbell is not only a generous host but also a wise one, the noon day 
repast was spread on an open air table under the spreading brows of the trees.  
After the table had been filled to overflowing with the most attractive and 
delicious food then it was that this genial physicial called upon this writer 
to say his ay quite a scheme to cut the speach short for who could speek or 
listen at a speach with such a table spread before them?  Suffice to say we did 
little more than "return thanks" for what we were about to receive, and all got 
busy.  It was indeed a happy season.

We heartily commend such gatherings of all families who are able to do so.  It 
renews the ties of home sweet home and keeps the family in closer touch.  The 
children and grand children of Dr. Campbell gathered from all parts and were 
happily reunited around the old hearthstone the dearest place on earth.

We congratulate our good friends and his entire family and hope they may live 
to enjoy many more like this one.
