(Special) Yesterday, while burning stalks in the cornfield, Eula, the 9-year-old daughter of the Rev. H. H. Goodman, who lives two miles south of Ashland, came near losing her life. Her clothes became ignited, and before the flames could be extinguished, she was seriously if not fatally burned. Her father, who was several yards away, ran to her and had his hands badly burned trying to save his child. Her sister, Nettie, reached her before the fire was extinguished, and her hands were burned also. There is hope of her recovery, as the flames did not reach her face.
