The fire originated in the dry boards on the roof of the dwelling, which was falling in before it was discovered. The family, all but Mrs. H. and the smallest of the children were at preaching some two miles from home, but Mrs. Hannah, awakening, like a true heroine, set to work to save what she could from the consuming flames, but the fire had got such a start that she only had time to remove her sewing machine and a few of the bed clothing. The wheat bin, which set near the house, and which contained the whole of the wheat crop, caught on fire and was burned. Ashland Times.
