Ashland Standard December 6, 1900
Last Tuesday James Bassett, who was at work at Jordan and Swann's gin at Swann, 
near the line of Clay and Randolph, some 12 miles east of town, was caught in the 
first coupling of the engine. One arm was jerked off below the elbow, the other 
was almost jerked off and his side terribly torn. His recovery is doubtful.
