It was a great day, as we met loved ones from several Southern states. Some had been-away fifteen and twenty years, others have passed over the great divide. We were so glad to meet at Grandfather's old home and still see. the work of his honest hands, and just a little way down the road old Mt. Gillead church that he built in whose cemetery he sleeps along with many of his loved ones. He left a large family, a great name, which is rather to be chosen than riches. Over 150 direct descendants are scattered from the Atlantic to the Pacific who have and cherish his memory and love so much to meet together annually on the 1st Saturday in August to enjoy that wonderful association that he loved so much and which we are trying to perpetuate. A table was laid under a large walnut tree planted by his hands many years ago that was laden with a sumptuous feast. A grandson returned thanks using almost to a word Grandfather's blessing. We were glad and we were sad for some of us will not meet again until we meet in that great reunion in the Sweet By and By, where we trust not one will be missing. A Granddaughter.
