Mr. Thompson, who was doctoring a sick horse, told his little daughter to start a fire and warm him some water She did so, and as she turned away from the fire her skirt caught. She tried to extinguish the flame with her hands and failing to do so, became frightened and ran. Mr. Allen White and Mr. Bryant saw her when she left the house and ran to her assistance. Mr. White reached her first and succeeded in tearing the burning clothes from the child before she was fatally burned. Mrs. Thompson is visiting her brother in Birmingham and has been telegraphed to return at once.
