Anniston Star January 22, 1904
Yesterday morning an old and decerped man 70 years of age, after having spent the 
night in the police station for the lack of a better place, resumed his journey 
to the home of friends near Delta, Clay County, on foot.  He is making the trip 
overland, because he hasn't the money to do it otherwise, from some point in 
Mississippi and has been two weeks on the road. He had punctured his foot with a 
nail so that he was unable to wear a shoe on it. It is somewhat a pitiful sight 
for a man of his years to be so destitute of resources.
