This post office is located near the line of Clay and Tallapoosa Counties, and near one of the battle grounds of Jackson in the Creek War. It is noted in this section for its fine mills, wool factory, and an extensive mercantile business owned and carried on by Mr. Merritt Street. Mr. S. served in the Mexican war and afterwards started from small means. He by his enterprise, and energy, has accumulated a handsome fortune, and he is using this in building up his Country. He is a gentleman of intelligence, and a great advocate and supporter of good schools. He is an enthusiastic friend of the A. and M. Colledge at Auburn, where he has now two sons.
