She has had only 13 lessons to her lifetime, and she has painted scenes at various times for the last 40 years. Among her scenes are a mill, Mimehaha Falls and a view of Gulfport, Miss. The last scene was painted from a picture postcard. She also has two flower scenes painted on a piece of the headboard and a piece of the footboard of an old bedstead. She has her first picture, a bowl of fruit, that was painted 40 years ago, and it still retains the original colors as bright as the day it was painted. Mrs. Mitchell has hung the paintings about her house, and they form a very pretty sight as one walks in. In addition to her interest in art Mrs. Mitchell has been teaching music for 35 years and she has taught the intermediate Sunday School Class in her church for 35 years. Stored in a storm pit is an old Singer sewing machine that is 75 years old. It was in possession of Mrs. Mitchell's mother, and it was handed down to her. It is not in working condition, but apparently a small amount of repair would place it in running order. In the same building is a spinning wheel that is very old.
