Mr. Smith is said to have a fine orchard of fruit which he glows for commercial purposes and, according to reports, he had been missing apples from the orchard some time. So last night he was watching the orchard when some parties entered it. He fired on them with the result that one, a negro, was struck in the body and killed. The others escaped.
