One man dead, another fatally Injured, and another seriously injured, Is the result of a Christmas night turkey shoot held in the mountains of Clay County, fifteen miles southeast of Talladega. Cal Lackey is dead, his brother, Joe Lackey, fatally injured, and a man by the name of Bunn injured. All three men are white mountaineers residing in that section and from meager reports the men were drinking Bunn, it is alleged, did the shooting, while the two Lackey brothers took sides. Bunn was struck over the head in the melee and escaped into the mountains after having shot the two brothers. The scene of the shooting is the heart of the greatest mountain region of Alabama, and the residents of this particular section are of the wild west type. A free for all feud among the friends and allies of the two contingents would not be surprising, but officials state that they think they can avoid any such enactment.
